And that’s not all! The all-new SUV will be offered for sale in the United States and Canada beginning in 2020.
The redesigned Land Rover Defender is already being tested on North American roadways. These tests provide engineers with valuable data about how the SUV handles the continent’s terrain and road surfaces in varying conditions. Engineers will test the SUV rigorously in extreme conditions that include temperatures ranging from -40 degrees to 120 degrees Fahrenheit. They’ll also test the vehicle on- and off-road at altitudes of more than 13,000 feet above sea level.
What’s the point of all these tests? To make sure the all-new Land Rover Defender is the most capable off-road Land Rover automobile ever produced, of course.
“There are a handful of automobiles that are beloved around the world and stand for a brand, a country, and a distinct way of life. The Land Rover Defender is such a singular vehicle. On behalf of everyone at Land Rover [headquarters] and our proud retailers, the voices of American and Canadian customers have been heard. The all-new [Land Rover] Defender will be for sale here starting in 2020,” said Kim McCullough, vice president of marketing for Jaguar Land Rover North America.
